Jerry's Place is happy homey family owned restaurant! My friends and I stopped here on the way back from Calvert Cliffs, and we were blown away by the hospitality of Jerry and family! Jerry walks around giving everyone free samples of whatever's good that day. On Saturday, it was the haddock and soft shell crabs. I got a platter of the crab cake and the haddock. The crab cake was pure crab, and it was delicious! For the sides, I got the kale and a corn salad. Corn salad wasn't very good (canned corn, I think), but the kale was delicious (who doesn't love bacon kale?). The decor is amazing! There are faces of people in various garb painted all over the restaurant. When we asked about it, our waitress said that they have a special artist who paints the faces of regular customers and locals for $100/face. I'm not sure when I'll be back, but I know that I will! Next time I have the opportunity to pass Jerry's on the road, I'll be sure to stop by. Excited for my next visit!

We have been here many times and have always had a great meal. I pass too many restaurants to count to get here. And it's always worth the drive. The owner and family are there most of the time and make you feel more than welcomed. You feel like the only client or an expected friend dropping in for dinner. Some of the best customer service in the business. I never have to ask for anything. I got low on onion rings on my last visit and with out any hesitation Jerry comes back to my table with just a few more onion rings and says " just wanna make sure your full". I have not experience better hospitality anywhere. The menu is simple and there are no average dishes. All are great. I'll start with the crab cakes. Not much breading and seasoned near perfection. A must try. The haddock is a good choice I'd like to recommend if you have tried the crab cake. The granddad crab cake is more than enough for three people. Stewed tomatoes remind me of my grandmothers. Just the right amount of sweetness. The wait staff is great! They are glad to be there and it shows. My kids love the caricatures of all the patrons on the walls. Thanks to the whole Jerry's Family!Just a great place! Wish I lived closer still. This is a must try. You will love it!

No matter what I write you cannot begin to understand the experience of coming to Jerry's Place until you actually experience it! But I will do my best... Me and my husband recently moved to Maryland from San Diego, due to my husband being in the military. We arrived in town on a Tuesday & ate here Wednesday night. We were tired of fast food on the road trip and needed a real meal. We could not have chosen a better place. We walked in the door & were greeted by Jerry Jr in his famous red hat! I told him we had never been here and just moved from California. He hollered over to his dad Jerry to let him know we were first timers. He immediately came over and greeted us, welcomed us, and started calling over samples for us to try. I have to say I have never enjoyed kale so much...ever. The samples kept coming of a few different sides and an entree as well. We ordered the casino oysters (amazing)! And then the Fresh Haddock, crab cakes, and scallops that we ended up all sharing! Every single bite was better than the last delicious! The best part of eating here besides the food was the atmosphere!! The whole crew here welcomed us to Maryland better than we could have ever hoped! Other customers sitting next to us heard we were from San Diego and started chatting. I am in love with this place! Jerry came back throughout the meal to check on us and make sure we were 100% happy! By the time dinner was over drinks were on Jerry and I was amazed at the hospitality these people showed us! I have never been to a place like this & what a great first experience for our new lives on the east coast! I could not possibly recommend this place enough!! Incredible!! Thanks guys!!

Jerry's has great crab cakes. I love the way they take care of you too. He also gave us samples of different sides to try. Very good. Will go back again!

I'm sure there are crab cake aficionado's out there who'll dispute this humble review of mine, but as a simple northerner visiting the area I was very happy with what I got from Jerry's. The free samples were a great way to get you hooked on what was served inside. You wouldn't do that if the food was lousy to begin with. So he's a salesman...he's good at it. And so was the food. Half pound of steamed shrimp seasoned with old bay, deep fried haddock with tartar sauce and soft shell crabs with General Tso's sauce (yes I hear the gasps, sorry we liked it). The staff was busy but friendly and Jerry and his son were very attentive to EVERY table in the room. Overpriced? I can't say. We thought it fair. Overall, the experience was very pleasant and everyone in our group of 12 loved it.

Came here for what looks like to be a Maryland seafood restaurant serving fresh Maryland seafood only to find out our crabcakes came from Venezuela. Owner blamed illegal immigrants making the price of real Maryland crab to expensive! False advertising and what a shame!

I used to think this place was great and would recommend it to anyone who cared to listen. I just went back after not having been in quite a while. The prices, man, the prices. I understand there are market fluctuations due to seafood availability but $16 for a tiny oyster sandwich on a hamburger bun? It came with nothing else on it, just some fried oysters with a pickle, cocktail sauce, and ruffles chips on the side. Worth $10 at best. It was so little food that immediately after I went to EZ Thai down the street. Now let me tell you about EZ Thai. It is delicious and priced right. Jerry's place is not.

Sooooo.......we are still sitting at our table but the review couldn't wait!! This place deserves 10 stars!! The hospitality, warmth and let's not forget the food is above the best!!!! Jerry the owner has been walking around all night talking to everybody and pretty much let us sample everything on the menu, which all was perfect. I rarely comment on any place I eat unless it is great, and this place deserves 2 comments. If I am ever back in this area I will be eating here again. And possibly tomorrow! Will post another after our meal!!

The food is pricey but it's definitely worth it. The samples that were given out were delicious and it stopped us from getting appetizers! Very yummy and very friendly atmosphere. They took my daughter back to the kitchen to give her some free apple sauce, I'm a tea snob and the tea was outstanding!! Yum. The cream of crab soup is a ginger curry taste, make sure you get a sample before ordering.

I've never had a bad meal here. The staff at Jerry's always makes sure you enjoy your meal. Soft shell crabs were excellent tonight with the stewed tomatoes and wedge salad. If you order the tomatoes, ask for them to come out early so you can dip your bread in the tomatoes. :)

Wonderful food and wonderful service. The staff are excellent and go the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome. The food was amazing. My favorite was the cream of crab soup with real crab chunks. My wife loved the scallops blackened with ginger soy sauce. All of the sides were fantastic including the tomatoes and cope slaw. We will definitely be back.

Wow!!! Jerry is one of the best restauranteurs I've ever met. Friendly. Samples galore and every side, soup and entree is excellent. Got to try the kale and tomatoes.

This is THE place to go in Prince Frederick, and pretty much Calvert County as a whole. Unless you are looking for the bay breeze in your hair as you dine, this is the best seafood and fantastic service. The ambiance is classic Calvert, little bit hick, lotsa friendly. Servers were attentive, the hostess was smiling and helpful, and the cod bites for the adults and applesauce for the kiddos appeared immediately. The walls are decorated with caricatures of local celebs, guests, and family, many generously bosomed ladies and hearty eatin' men. Onto the food... The cream of crab soup is a delight. Curried and full of large chunks of crab, it is an excellent blend of flavor and good pure crab. The crab, too, is chunky pure crab goodness. The only oddity to me is it comes with cocktail sauce, I had to request tartar. The sides are good standard fare, I've had the sweet potato with cinnamon (yum++), fries (ok), applesauce (yum), and coleslaw (yum). The fresh dinner rolls are excellent, too. I've never actually enjoyed dinner rolls that much. It gets busy, but there is a tented waiting area outside the restaurant. It's worth it. Opens at 1pm on Sunday for an after church lunch!

Not to often do you come across a restaurent owner who is not only passionate about life he is just as passionate about the quality and preparedness of the food he serves. Jerrys is an experience that cannot be expressed in words but must be experienced in person. One of the best around.

We have wanted to eat here for a long time and finally did tonight. And it did not disappoint. There was a 20 minute wait for a table but Jerry was bringing out samples of food so it flew by. Everyone's dinner was great. Our table had tuna, rockfish, haddock, shrimp, crab soup, and scallops. We loved it all. Plus the kale and stewed tomatoes were delicious.

Without question this was some of the very best seafood I have tasted. The atmosphere is not up to the food, BUT, who cares!

My standard disclaimer: I'm a vegetarian reviewing a seafood restaurant. I cannot actually comment on the seafood. I went with a group of coworkers for lunch on a Friday afternoon. I was surprised that I left full and happy! Despite having zero dishes on the menu that aren't meat-based, they have a variety of really good side dishes. I had the stewed tomatoes, fries, and coleslaw. The stewed tomatoes were interesting, but yummy. They were stewed in butter and sugar and were very satisfying. The fries were nothing special, but with enough Old Bay anything is good! The coleslaw was the standout. It was creamy and flavorful. The other folks I was dining with had a variety of dishes including the crab cake and haddock. They all raved about their food. Service was quite good. Our server was unenthusiastic but polite and kept tabs on us very well. We also got checked on by the owner's wife (?). It's nice that they bring carafes of beverages to your table so refills are at your own pace. The little "amuse bouche" (I feel silly typing that considering the decor and general laid back atmosphere of the place) before the meal were a nice touch too. Overall it was a nice experience and I would be fine going there again even knowing the limited vegetarian options. Pro tip: the kale is made with bacon, so avoid that.

High priced, real good iced tea but I am not sure why everyone feels that this is a 5 start joint. The food is good but not 5 star. If the management keeps the prices as high as they are the only people that will be able to eat there are those 5 star rich folks.

I might like the food. I don't know. I didn't stay to find out. I went there by myself for an early dinner, excited about the fresh oysters. I was greeted at the door by Jerry, which was great, and his son led me in to find a table. There were a lot of tables open and he asked if i'd like a table in the middle or one by the wall. The ones by the wall were larger. He started to lead me to one by the wall but then he started into an angry tirade because a woman was still cleaning them off. He said there weren't any clean tables in the place (there were quite a few that were set). He was really thrashing her out. I said I could take the one she was cleaning and I didn't mind waiting. He then remarked that those tables were big and they had people coming. I offered to sit at a smaller table. He insisted I sit at the larger table because it "was the only one clean" and then made another remark about how they had people coming - and sighed and said oh well and then he walked away. The lady who was cleaning tables looked very stricken and embarrassed. I started feeling very uncomfortable - like I was a bother or something, taking up space they would prefer to be available for crowds. I decided to leave. I didn't feel welcome as a solo diner. I didn't want to sit through dinner feeling like they didn't want to waste a table on only one person. I'm not sure I will ever go back. If you're with a crowd, I'm sure you'll have a great time there. Just don't go solo.

  • Chamell N.

Yes. He deserves 5 's for greeting at the door, treating everyone as family although you've never been here before. The guests, staff as well as Jerry himself all have a warm sense of comfort. There's no way I found this spot had I been looking for it. Next to a tire rotation shop? Who would have known? The plan was to ride to Solomon's Island and come back. Thanks to YELP and great directions, Jerry will now have us twice a year. Don't be shame when ordering your meal. Jerry loves to tease your order to know your hearty in the middle. Desserts are next. Pictures only, I'm too stuffed to keep typing. Make a day of it it's well worth the drive.

We have been going to Jerry's for years -- you go to a restaurant for both good food and great service. He consistently has both. It's not easy to find both in this area - so it keeps this place packed all the time and for good reason. Thanks, Jerry and family!

We went here for lunch recently. I thought the seafood was good, but like some of the other reviewers, I just don't *get* it. Maybe we didn't order the right things? We started with cream of crab soup. The soup has curry in it, and was very creamy. Not at all what you would expect. We tried a little sample before ordering, and liked the flavor, but when we soup came out we were all surprised at the lack of seafood. It was almost like a potato soup - it felt like it was pureed. I'm not saying it wasn't a good soup, it just didn't seem like what we were expecting. The entrees we had (and my thoughts) were: -Fried shrimp: good, but a really small portion size. -Lightly fried scallops: When I think of lightly fried scallops, I thought they would be pan fried in butter or wine, but these were lightly *deep* fried. Personally, I was a little disappointed. -Crab cakes: Like others have said, very good and mostly crab meat. However, like the scallops, very small serving size (done by oz., obviously) -Haddock: The best thing we ordered. Plenty of flavor. There weren't that many side options. We each had kale, which was good. Then a mixture of stewed tomatoes, applesauce (we didn't get the right side at first, and the speed with which the waitress replaced it let me know she probably just pulled a jar out of the fridge), and a wedge salad (which was literally just the iceberg lettuce and blue cheese). Overall I was underwhelmed by the sides. So, maybe this is a good place to eat if you are here often and you know how to work the menu and the waiters, but for someone passing through out of town, I just didn't get that OMG experience that people seem to be talking about.

Do not be deceived by the location next to Mr. Tire...Everything is delicious and fresh at Jerry's and the service is the best. You will be treated like royalty whether its your first time or your 50th. There are always at least 3 entrees and appetizers that have arrived fresh not on the menu, so make sure to hear the specials before you decide. Best cream of crab EVER...not to mention the amazing crabcakes. But I am partial to the tuna (not on the menu, but usually a special) which is sushi grade and melt in your mouth delicious. If you have to wait for a table, Jerry makes sure to bring treats out to the waiting area to keep you happy!

This is THE place for amazing Maryland seafood! It's a tiny place next to a tire shop. You might have to wait a little bit because there aren't that many tables (and it is always busy!) but the wait is WORTH IT! And lots of times, employees will come around and give you samples while you're waiting. (we've even had our drink orders taken as well). They make you feel like you're visiting their home and you just don't find that in many places! The walls are painted by a very talented local artist. We actually got to talk to him when we last ate there and we found out that the people painted on the walls were the family who own the place and the rest were customers who paid to be up there! Again, so personable! It's a little pricey, but again, IT'S WORTH IT! We always start out with the crab dip. You won't want to have crab dip anywhere else after eating this one! (fair warning, haha) I usually get the scallops and they are always cooked to perfection! I also recommend the stewed tomatoes! They taste like candy! I don't know how they do it! I'm certain that there is not a bad dish here! You will NOT be disappointed here! Every part of the experience is fantastic! This is where my boyfriend and I always pick for a quiet date night. :-)

Wonderful people. Jerry greets you at the door and chats with people as they dine. They brought out samples of kale, stewed tomatoes, fish bites. And the two crab soups one creamy and one with veggies. The kale had a twelve year old swooning and spooning it up like crazy. He had the rich curry flavored cream of crab soup. The Colonel and I split a senior sized crab cake with delicious coleslaw and fries. Carafes of tea, both regular and sweet, graced the table. The waitress and other staff were fast, friendly and attentive. We finished the meal with slices of banana cream and peanut butter pie, which both took second place in the Calvert County fair last year. Open till 7 on Sundays, it was a great way to end a day of hiking and fossil hunting at Calvert Cliffs state park.

There are many reasons I love Jerrys place . One it has the best seafood around. I am not a fan of soft shelled crabs, okay, so I normally hate them . Jerrys are the best. The only sad thing is that they are seasonal. Their blue cheese salad wedge is out o this world. Things are a bit pricey but nothing compared to DC pricing. Oh another reason I love Jerrys. I went in to get a to go order for my husband and I , as I was waiting I Began speaking to one of the owners I told them how we were celebrating my husbands one year anniversary of being cancer free. When my food was ready and I went to pay, I was told it was on the house. I don't mind paying a bit of a premium for excellent food, and I love supporting a restaurant that cares about their customers and their stories.

  • Joseph I.

It is difficult to conceive of a seafood restaurant that consistently delivers extraordinary food, flawless customer service and good value in the way that Jerry's does. The crab cake, cream of crab soup, soft shells ( done General Tso's style) and oysters casino are best in class and the service is as attentive and friendly as I've ever experienced. Both Jerry and Jerry Jr. (as well as the wait staff-mostly family) go out of their way to make sure both first-timers and regulars get to sample the house's signature dishes (mentioned above, plus kale and fried haddock). If there's a line - and there usually is- stay put: the experience is worth it.

Wow what a great find. First off it's a cozy place and the owners even waiting on tables. They go over the specials which is nice because this time of year you don't have much in season. They bring out a bunch of little sample even the base for the soups. What is this a whole foods. The prices are a tad high but you can see why as the fish was extremely fresh not frozen. All the food we had was good minus the fries. Those I can tell where frozen and very meh. The one thing I would say is double check when subbing out sides because they up charged $3.50 for a side of fries and for what they where and the price of the sandwich kinda of nickel and dimmed. $17 for a crab cake sandwich and you add $3.50 for fries come on now. Sometimes I hate knowing to much about financials in the food industry but that shouldn't be an up charge. Any way the carb was delicious and service was good. If your in the area give it a whirl.

The seafood here is amazing and the service is great. The owner brought out a plate of fish bites while we were waiting for a table. They immediately brought out more fish bites, bread, and applesauce for my two year old when we got to our table. This place is great and definitely worth the wait to get in. The owner is super nice and really goes the extra mile to please his customers.

My favorite place for seafood and DEFINITELY for crab cakes. This is a place that proves that real food with real ingredients doesn't need a lot of help. It stands alone just fine. I love everything here. Fish, shrimp, crab cakes, sides (hello delicious kale!), and desserts. Even the bar is pretty well stocked. The best part about Jerry's is the ambiance though. It's so obviously a family run place that you ARE family there. In fact, they give you so many samples that you're likely to fill up on just that!

Great service, the battered fish was delicious. My husband had the crabcakes and he said it was true- there wasn't any filler in them! The staff were very welcoming and friendly, and the samples helped us decide what we wanted to eat. Atmosphere was pleasant and we'd definitely come back if we're in the area.

look, lets cut the crap here & get this outta the way immediately: this is NOT anything better than 2 stars!!! Like many "reputation places"- yes- you want to give it five stars, you want it to be another one of those hidden gems- BUT- that aint reality. heres the reality- cause you know i call it like i see it: jerry is a salesman. so is his son, who plays the role of foil or sidekick or whatever. THAT is their biggest strength. the food and prices- those are NOT strengths. yeah the act is good- utilizing the old "we're the best seafood place man", "this is absolutely perfect", "this will be the best seafood you've ever had"- all sorts of sayings like that. and i gotta give em credit- i BELIEVED him- UNTIL i caught on! Stewed tomatoes- nothing special and far too sweet. kale- yeah it's good, but so what- it's kale. and its not THAT great. Haddock- at 24 bucks- WAYYYYY overpriced and very overcooked, and i question just how fresh it was. crab soup- Too creamy for its own good, not enough crab for the price, and not salted/seasoned enough. The act plays on through the whole experience- jerry & son will stop by each table- socializing, carrying on, even offering free shots to some of the tables- and it's a good thing- bc if these patrons were sober & saw the bill- they'd be freaking out! side note- the local nuclear power plant- yes- nuclear power pant- had a planned outage when i was in town, and they literally ordered $1,000 worth of food from jerrys. jerrys "throw in" for such a huge order on a dead march thursday nite- a tray of kale & stewed tomtatoes. nice touch, but at 1000 bucks- that freebie shouldda been 50 bucks worth of extra crab, not 10 bucks worth of kale and tomatoes. entertainment-wise- 3 or 4 stars, but this is supposed to be about food- so two stars it is. dont let the hype fool you. PS- i liked the "free" samples thing- but again- dont be fooled- its wayyyy factored into the price of the food.

    (2)
  • Susanna N.

The food is excellent but definitely overpriced. Paid $30+ for six scallops, fries and applesauce. It's the only seafood place in the area so it has that going for it, but Jerry thinks a little too highly for his food.

  • Amanda K.

This is definitely not the same place people are giving 5 stars... Right? I just don't get it. There must be some magical word you have to say to get the quality food and service others are given while some are not. We went here for dinner after my inlaws raves about it. I was extremely disappointed. The one thing I loved was the kale with bacon. That was really awesome! So now that I have named the only pro to eating here (kale), let me name the cons. Way over priced for what you get. Portions were small. I will absolutely pay for delicious, good quality food. We didn't get that here. The food took a very long time and my order was wrong. I had the blackened scallops with coconut glaze. They left much to be desired in the flavor department. Someone was coming around with samples and skipped our table every time. The waitress seemed to have better things to do than to make sure we had what we needed. We barely saw her all night. I definitely won't be recommending this place. There are far better seafood places in the area that one could go to. After this dinner, I would rather find a long john silvers than eat here again.

We stumbled upon Jerry's Place during a day trip to the western shore. The atmosphere is like going home to your family's kitchen, Jerry greets you at the door, helps you to your seat, and provides tasty samples of some of the food he serves Let me just say: you haven't truly had good fish and chips until you've come here. The beer battered fish is so buttery and flaky it just melts in your mouth. We also had the crab cakes which of course were excellent. Finally, I can't believe I'm saying this, but the kale side was amazing. Who knew bacon, onions, and kale cooked for hours together could be so tasty? So if you find yourself bumming around southern MD, definitely go out of your way to get a good meal at Jerry's Place.

This is not your typical chain or individually owned restaurant! My wife and I eat out regularly and have wanted to stop at Jerry's for some time now but the parking lot has always been full (now I know why) so we've gone elsewhere. OMG, what a mistake. Here in southern Maryland, the choices can become mundane. While I like the restaurants we regularly patronize, the fare can become a little lackluster over time. While looking for a new establishment to patronize, I came across Jerry's and looked at the reviews and decided to run by. It was early and it had places to park so we pulled in and went inside. We were immediately greeted by this friendly gent in a ball cap, shirt and jeans. not your typical greeter. Almost immediately, we were approached by the owner. We were welcomed and escorted to our seat. I mentioned it was our first time there and a smile as big as Texas came across his face and he started explaining about the restaurant and what they had to offer. Over the first fifteen minutes they brought out samples of shrimp, haddock, kale, oysters all of which were delicious. My wife opted for the haddock and I for crab cake. Throughout the meal, Jerry returned over and over again to see how we were doing and how we were enjoying our meal asking us if we were going to return. Yes! The restaurant isn't that large but is welcoming with the tables and chairs arranged in comfortable spacing. The selections are simple but so delicious. I can't say enough about this being a welcome dining experience. It's not fancy by any means. Leave your coat and tie at home. Jerry, his son, the serving staff and even the bus boy were genuinely glad we were there and did their best to make sure we had a pleasurable dining experience. Try it once, you'll go back. I know we will.

The best seafood I've had in Md, it's pretty pricy but if you want great food and great service this is the place, very small next to a tire shop but the best food. This is the place you would want on the water and would not think twice about the price but often you pay the price on the water and never walk out feeling like you do when you leave here.

    (5)
  • Rick C.

Jerry's is always good and always friendly. The menu is limited, but everything (that I've tried) is good. Their raw oysters are always outstanding. Service can be from terrific to marginal. The main issue is price. The cost of eating at Jerry's often leads me to pick somewhere else. If they just dropped their prices by 10 to 15 percent I'd eat there more frequently. Perhaps that's the cost of eating good quality seafood, but that makes Jerry's Place an occasionally eatery rather than a routine place to dine. I'll continue to go, just sparingly.

My boyfriend and I found this place on google while on the hunt for good Crab Cakes. We got their grand daddy crab cake and it was HUGE. Their crab cakes are excellent and definitely have no fillers. I would definitely recommend this place for just their crab cakes and maybe drinks because their sides do leave something to be desired. Maybe it's because we're not native Marylanders, but neither of us were huge fans of any of of their sides. We ordered the fries (nothing to write home about), asparagus (they bought the ones that were too big, so the flavors were lacking), sweet potato (again nothing to write home about), and the Kale (probably the best side they had). They brought out some stewed tomatoes for us to try and maybe it's because we're not native Marylanders, but sweet stewed tomatoes taste kind of odd. They are a little on the expensive side because my boyfriend spent around a hundred bucks on just lunch, but their crab cakes don't have fillers so it's sort of worth it? (But really a hundred bucks on lunch in the middle of nowhere Maryland?! you've got to be kidding me)

I was really worried when my wife suggested this place. We are from Cincinnati and were staying up the street and this looked like the only reasonable seafood option. I have to say this is one of the best surprises I've had in some time. The owner Jerry greeted us and immediately brought us samples of their best dishes. And honestly, all that did was make our decision tougher. We went with the crab cake (they should just call it baked crab, there is no "cake") for two. It, along with sides were more than enough for my family of three. If I come any where near this part of the country again, I will be back.

Just ate there for the first time. Jerry greeted us at the door and throughout the meal, and he also brought us several free samples of their delicious seafood. Our waiter, Joe, was incredibly friendly and helpful. They definitely have the best jumbo shrimp and scallops we've ever had, as well as really excellent haddock and soft crab sandwiches. Even the rolls, fries, and coleslaw were exceptional. We would definitely come back.

Great seafood I had their Icelandic haddock sandwich after trying the delicious free sample. Service was friendly and quick. Beware food is overpriced but it is high quality, probably best fish sandwich it ever had. But it was a $16 sandwich with no sides except some chips and a pickle. That was one of the lower priced choices on their menu as well making it not very economical to go regularly. Still a great family owned place with great artwork on the walls of Jerry's friends and family. Check em out.

It was the first time my fiancé and I ate here per the recommendation from a coworker of his. Best decision ever. From the moment you walk in you have the immediate feeling of a nice mom and pop restaurant, who make you feel right at home. We were seated immediately and I have to say they have the nicest people working there (which I assume is all family of Jerry's). It's also nice finding a place that has legitimate sweet tea. You can't find that everywhere but Jerry's has it! We were given free samples of new sides that are on the menu such as the kale and tomatoes (the kale is delicious and I recommend them as a side whereas the stewed tomatoes were a bit too sweet for our taste). Their crab cakes were amazing! I ordered the regular (they come in three sizes!) crab cake with the kale and coleslaw and he got the crab cake sandwich, which comes with chips and a pickle. Both were extremely tasty and satisfying. Overall we had a great time and it was nice to see the owner out mixing it up with the different diners and checking in on our meal. He was also interested in our opinion about the new sides we tried. I definitely recommend this place and I look forward to eating here again!

I had the fried shrimp, crab cake and crab dip. It was all delicious and the staff are all amazingly friendly and attentive. This place tries very hard and they hit each note perfectly.

Over-rated by locals. Food is not bad but portions are extremely small. Cuisine is over priced. Wait time was very long and it was nice they handed out free appetizers while we waited. If you want a delicious crab cake, try the crab cake cafe instead.

I was told that Jerry's had the best seafood in the area and it definitely lived up to the hype. Jerry himself greeted us at the door and seated us right away and set us up with the crab dip as an app. He even hooked us up with a few samples of sides. I ordered the crab cakes which were the best I've ever had. My friends got the haddock and stuffed shrimp and were highly pleased. Jerry even brought out a sample of the soft shell crab just for us to try. All in all, the food was the best, the service we wonderful. We all had a great time. Highly recommended. Definitely will be coming back!

My wife and I split a grand crab cake platter with 4 sides. It was EXCELLENT! The portions were good size. If you like sweet tea you will like theirs. Our waitress was friendly and courteous. This establishment it in a cozy spot. This is probably the best meal I have had out in a year! Hands down a great place to eat. We will definitely go back.

Another delicious Sunday seafood dinner. Shrimp are huge, fresh and ever-so lightly battered. Right now they have homemade pumpkin cheesecake--real cheesecake. It is YUMMY, get some. As always service is good and uber-friendly. I love the kale at Jerry's.

This place is fantastic. Very friendly waitstaff & Jerry, himself, check with me to see how my food was. As soon as I sat down they brought me samples of the stewed tomatoes, kale & the fried Haddock. Even though I was looking at the reviews for thier crab cakes, I opted for a bowl of cream of crab, the fried Haddock, baked potato & kale. It was all very delicious. At first glance I thought that is wasn't going to fill me up but it was more than enough. I couldn't eat all of it. The bill was only $28 and well worth it. Definitely will return when I'm in this area!!!

I love small places where there is real pride in ownership and this place definitely fits the bill! Jerry Jr. personally came to our table to make sure we were doing good and ordering the right things on the menu. He also brought us tons of free samples of things he wanted us to try! Everything was soo good! The service was amazing! Try the crab cakes they were so good and so were the oysters!

This is a gem of a place in an otherwise dingy location. The service was excellent from start to finish. Our server was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu items. The food was delicious, from the complimentary "tastings" to our main dish. I had the crabcake sandwich and a side of asparagus. Both excellent! The interior is charming with lots of very nice touches: cloth napkins with napkin rings, clean bathrooms with complimentary toiletries, fun personal murals on the walls. I would have given five stars but for two things: 1) there aren't any veggie items on the menu except for the day's iceberg lettuce salad and the asparagus and 2) the crabcake sandwich cost $16, which seems steep given that it only comes with a pickle spear & a handful of generic potato chips. There wasn't even a cut of tomato or piece of lettuce to put on my sandwich. I suppose with the tastings, roll, and the 1/2 carafe of soda that I got my $16 worth, but the sandwich lacked in it's presentation.

Went there on the recommendation of a nurse at Calvert Memorial Hospital. A little pricey, but the crab cake was one of the best I've had, and I'm from Maryland. Staff was very attentive but not overbearing. Free samples of the haddock, stewed tomatoes, cream of crab soup, oysters and kale. I do not care for stewed tomatoes, but I liked Jerry's a lot. I would order them the next time. I would have never stopped at this place if it had not been for the glowing recommendation.

I took my fiance on a Saturday night. It was our first visit. The service was outstanding. we were doted on by the owner, which was great. The food was OK. My issue is with the prices. I have eaten, often, in Alexandria, DC, and Annapolis. I have had the same quality or better at about 1/2 the price. If I pay $32 for Rockfish I expect it to be perfect and the ambience to be the best. it was just OK.

To start, this restaurant is very unassuming. It is next to a auto shop. I would have never visited this place if it weren't for my wife going there for a workplace holiday party. She raved about it so we decided to go for my birthday celebration. Apparently we hit the sweet spot as for time. There were many patrons inside but we got 3 tables for a party of 11 + our baby and it only took about 10 minutes. We were right next to the oyster bar. The guy fixing the oyster said they go through 2 bushels a day! I know why, the oysters were excellent. Kudos to the oyster man! The owners were actively taking part in the customer experience. They talked to us and played with the baby. Pretty cool. Now for the yummy... Freshly made bread was brought to the table... Oh, the inside of the restaurant is very nicely decorated. The walls are decorated with painted faces of patrons and employees. They excellent representations in the form of bobble heads (large heads and tiny bodies). It makes the place unique and quaint. Very tasteful. Okay, they brought out samples of the Haddock to the tables. Real deal pieces of fish that were yummy! There honestly is no need for an appetizer but you will miss out if you don't try at least 1. My wife and I tried the Cream of Crab after one of the owners brouht us a small sample of the creamy broth. They add the fresh crab to the broth when the order is made (brilliant!). It was the best cream of crab I have ever had. Seriously! I ordered the Senior Crab Cake. The crab cakes come in 4 sizes and several different styles. Mine was the Jerry's style. The senior was huge. A member of our group ordered the Grand Pa Crab Cake. That things is 1 lb of crab and you gotta share it! Huge!!! 5 star crab all the way! I had some steamed tomatoes as a side which I wasn't too thrilled with because it was too sweet for my taste. I have been trying to cut out sugar from my diet so sweets are much sweeter to me now. Others in the group enjoyed it though. The fish of the day, Norwegian Salmon, was great. The crab stuff shrimp, great. Nothing was bad. Service is great, food is great, and overall the experience was great. This is my #1 in this area. By far!

So this is the third time I've been to Jerry's. I previously gave it 5 stars, but after this experience, I'm giving it 2. I ordered the baked haddock for 25 dollars- it was overpriced, cold, flavorless, overcooked, and smelly. It had also clearly been boiled rather than baked (appeared to be a frozen filet that was defrosted). DONT ORDER THE BAKED HADDOCK!

  • Don G.

OFGS shut the heck UP!!! They are obviously trying to keep their place secret! One basically has to be buying tires at the tire store that shares the building to have ANY idea that ANY restaurant is there, much less so fine a restaurant as this. OK, OK, I've only been there twice, but everything I've had has exceeded my expectations by far. These folks are remarkably friendly and charming, and they also take their food very seriously. The appetizers, the entrees, the sides, the desserts, I haven't had a loser yet. Be forewarned, 'tain't cheap, but 'tis oh so good.

I have really given anything 5 stars before, because I believe nothing is perfect. I enjoy all food from dives to 5 star restaurant, however, I am particular about taste and flavors. Jerry's place was probably the best crab cake I have ever had. We ordered the cole slaw and french fries as our sides and split once small 4 oz crab cake platter. So we weren't raking in the cash for the restaurant. The staff didn't seem to care though. The cole slaw was delicious and the fries were perfectly cooked. The crab cake had no fillers and was broiled and not deep fried. There was no fish taste to it whatsoever. When they found out it was our first time, and after we had payed our tab, they wanted us to try their kale and stewed tomatoes. On the house. The kale was delicious and the stewed tomatoes were sweet and lovely. They found out we had a birthday at the table and offered us a birthday brownie on the house. Keep in mind we split one meal and have already paid our tab. The owner, Jerry, came out and talked to us forever. On the way out we wanted to look at the oyster bar. They offered us both a free oyster each with their special sauce, which was mouthwatering. I typically don't like the big oysters, or East Coast oysters for that matter. I prefer the smaller, sweeter ones that are not too briny. However, these large oysters, native to the Patuxent with no special name were extremely good. Both the staff and the food made my restaurant experience memorable.

The perfect seafood joint. The kale is the second best vegetable I've ever eaten (the first slot will probably always be held by Rasika's fried spinach). My crab cake was everything you want in a crabcake-- packed with lump crab, lightly seasoned and no filler. My husband's rare tuna was the freshest I've ever tasted. And both of my children ate every single bite of their haddock bites. The banana cream pie tasted like someone's grandma spent hours making it. The service is the best I've ever had and we went on Mother's Day, one of the busiest days of the year. A waiter introduced himself to my children, as he brought everyone some nibbles to munch on while we waited outside of the restaurant. By the time we left, most of the staff had spoken to my children by name! My daughter even said to me "they must really like us here!" (They are well-behaved 3 year olds, most waiters look at them with tolerance at best.) Seriously, this was one of the most enjoyable family meals I've ever had. It may be a long drive, but we will be back.

I haven't yelped on a restaurant in a long time because, as my mom used to say, "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!" I have nothing but great things to say about Jerry's Place! My husband and I first went there about three weeks ago after reading other Yelp reviews and hearing that the crab cakes were among the best in Maryland. High praise. We almost couldn't find it as it is sandwiched next to a tire place with a very unassuming store front. Thank goodness that my mom also taught me another cliche-- "don't judge a book by its cover!" Our experience at Jerry's was first-rate from start to finish. Jerry and the staff made us feel right at home from the minute we walked through the door. Like other yelpers have noted, we were provided with great samples of haddock, kale, stewed tomatoes and soft shell crab with General Tso's sauce (who knew? it's awesome!!). Our server, Lloyd, could not have been more helpful in taking us through the menu and making great recommendations. He was friendly and professional without being overbearing. On our first visit, we even got a quick tour of the kitchen, courtesy of Jerry. FYI--I worked my way through school by working as a cook and I can honestly say that I was impressed by the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and walk-ins. And the homemade desserts are just to die for... We wondered if our first visit was some kind of weird fluke--they must have mistaken us for someone "important" or something - but the following week we went back and the service and food quality were still excellent! Jerry's isn't cheap, but it isn't over-the-top expensive either, and the tremendous food and service really set it apart. First rate! PS - doesn't take reservations, but Jerry brings out samples & treats to make the wait easier!

Jerry' s Place was a wonderful dining experience! Jerry greeted us At the door, shook our hands, took us to our table and promised us samples of the haddock, fried shrimp, kale and stewed tomato appetizers. Our lightly breaded haddock sandwich was delicious and plentiful and the soft shell crab with General Tao sauce was to die for. The homemade chocolate cake was a wonderful way to end our meal. We can't wait to return to MD so we visit Jerry's Place again!

Terrific experience! We hope to return! We were out of state visiting family and they told us about Jerry's Place. We stopped in for lunch and were greeted and seated by Jerry, who brought out samples of some of his favorites for us. I ordered the haddock after tasting the sample, and it was magnificent. My husband is from Maryland, so he's extremely picky about crab, but he absolutely loved the crabcakes at Jerry's! We also enjoyed the seasoned kale, but found the sample of stewed tomatoes surprisingly sweet. The service was perfect - I love the small, cozy atmosphere - no customer gets overlooked. The staff behaved like family toward each other, and Jerry obviously loves what he does! I highly recommend a visit to Jerry's Place.

Out here for a week of work and the guys on site all said, 'you have to try Jerry's Place'. They were not wrong. The location does not set you up for the quality of food or service. If I'm ever back here, I'll come back. I reiterate the comments of other 5 star reviews, including samples, food quality, etc.

Very good! As first time diners be ready for the samples, one after the other of fresh homemade foods. Ordered a large platter to share with my wife and everything was good, and I always eat seafood. The crabcake was all jumbo lump with no filler, unlike the other local seafood house whose crabcakes have gone downhill year after year.Samples of Kale, stewed tomatoes, hushpuppies and both types of crab soup. On the way out stopped to thank Jerry at the oyster bar and he insisted on me trying a few with different sauces. Very attentive waiter and we will definitely be returning soon. No other seafood restaurant in Calvert County is this good, even if you have to pay for it !

Pricey but worth it if you like seafood. Our server was friendly and professional, very knowledgeable about the menu. We were assured that if something wasn't to our liking, they would make it good. The menu isn't extensive, but what they serve is very well prepared. Very fresh ingredients, no filler, generous portions. The wine and dessert were good, too, with the exception of the apple dessert which could've stood a few more minutes in the oven. Our bill was $120.00 for three people, meal, wine, dessert included, before tip.

Crab cakes are delicious! Love that they brought us a sample of the fried haddock (really good), stewed tomatoes (good), and the onion rings (some of the best I've ever had) before we ordered. Ended up getting the crab cake sandwiches which were fantastic. Lots of backfin meat and very little filler. Serving staff was nice and on top of things. Whenever I go to southern MD I will be back here.

This restaurant completely deserves all of the great reviews it gets. It's in an unassuming building by the side of the road next to a gas station, and it's easy to miss, so keep an eye out for it! The staff here is the friendliest group ever, and most of them are part of Jerry's family! They are fast and attentive, and will bring you tons of samples and fresh bread to start. The sides here are terrific--try the kale or stewed tomatoes--and the seafood is always fresh (try the haddock or softshell crabs). Adding to the charm off this place are all the adorable, homey, touches--the murals of Jerry's family on the wall, or the "fully-stocked" bathroom with toiletries. Tip: Combine a trip here with a trip to the Chesapeake Antique Mall and Auctions nearby!

Went here for the first time for dinner based upon recommendations from friends. A bit pricey for the portion sizes, but the food was very good. The kale and sweet stewed tomatoes were great. My wife got the broiled scallops and they were done to perfection. I ordered the fried haddock and although it was very good, I wish it had been bigger. The owners son greeted us at the door and stopped by more than once to chat and see how we were doing. Very friendly service.

I don't believe any place in Southern Maryland can compare to Jerry's place. The service is phenomenal and the food is out of this world. I have waited to eat here for a long time and only regret that I have not done it sooner and missed out on great food, but now, it's on! The crab dip to the soft shell crab on a skewer.... unbelivable. You have to try it out!! Thanks Jerry for an awesome experience and you will see us again:) Suebee

The seafood at Jerry's is PHENOMENAL. Seriously, the softshells here are some of the best in the state. Food is extremely consistent so you get the same great plate every time. Try it out! You won't regret it!

  • R M.

This is not the greatest place you'll ever eat. You'll have a nice meal and good service but this is not going to be memorable. On the plus side: that is an all-crab crabcake; the Maryland-style crab soup with vegetables was very good; and, the fried halibut was fresh and not greasy. On the down side: There was no seasoning, none, in the crabcake, almost making us wish for some filler because the filler might have some taste; if you must serve potato chips with your sandwiches, try to make sure they are fresh; this is not an attractive location or attractive restaurant. (If you didn't know better, you'd think Jerry's Place was the name of the adjacent tire store). The bacon-infused kale that everyone seems to love was good. Is this a negative review? No, but the collection of five-star reviews from other diners made me expect a lot more. And, the prices -- $16 for a sandwich and $24 for an entree -- also make you expect a great meal. Our experience leaves me suspicious if the 5-star reviews are from real customers. If they really think this is the perfect restaurant, they need to get out more.

Fantastic seafood, better service. Had oysters on the half shell, fried shrimp, crab cakes, kale and stewed tomatoes. Everything was freshly made and we had unbelievable service from Jerry and his grandson. Worth the trip.

The only thing better than the food at Jerry's is Jerry. Really nice guy who's quick with a smile and tries to get around to chatting with each diner. Too often, businesses push their products and services and forget about what's most important - treating the customer as a valued asset and not just a number. People buy from people they like and trust regardless of the "deal". Good going, Jerry. I will keep returning and will always refer my friends. Brooke Kaine

Yikes, not sure what all of the other reviewers are talking about but this place is a total rip-off . The only thing memorable about this place is how ripped off you'll feel when you get the check. You arrive thinking its a typical hole-in-the-wall seafood joint with amazing seafood and leave realizing you just paid way too much for a lousy sandwich or entree. I ordered the haddock sandwich for $16 and when it arrived, it appeared to be a frozen fish sandwich on nothing less than a supermarket hamburger bun! No sides save a handful of potato chips and a pickle and no toppings (tomatoes, lettuce, onions etc.). The crab cake sandwich is no better, fresh crab meat from Venezuela?! Tasted like it was fresh a month ago. We very much wanted to like this place based on the reviews, but spending $60 for two lousy sandwiches, 2 cokes and a stop at the Oyster Bar (which was nothing special) is a total rip-off. Oh, don't forget the ambiance, a brilliant sunny day outside and the blinds are all shut. Perfect. Maybe there is a different menu for locals or all of the reviewers are somehow related to Jerry. Either way, I can't reiterate this enough... KEEP DRIVING! There are far too numerous establishments in either direction more worthy of your appetite and wallet!

Great food, wonderful service, casual atmosphere. We go here for most birthdays. My kids love it, we love it, family coming into town requests to go here. I really can't say enough! I've never had anything that wasn't wonderful. The best calamari I've ever had. The scallops were so yummy, perfectly cooked and tender. The best seafood anywhere!

This place spun the wheel of my attention span and won an executive summary!: - Service is a mixed bag. Jerry and company are charming yet professional. Then they simply forgot one of our 'included' side dishes. When this was pointed out to them, they didn't deduct anything from the check. It's sad because I'm guessing they're charming and professional every night, and only rarely totally forget what you ordered, but it's just irritating when significant things get dropped. - Food is hit and miss. Crab anything is a -big- hit. Stuffed mushrooms, crab cakes. Yes. - Oysters were a catastrophe. Guys: leave the liquor in. We are not interested in your oyster dipping sauces or whatever they are. - Prices are e x t r e e e e e e m e. I live in New York City. I am accustomed to paying $4 for an oyster and $8 for a beer. If I walk out of a restaurant having spent $100, I better know why. Like a newly graduated Master in Sociology, I find myself questioning whether it was worth it a week later. Like any three-star place, if you know exactly what you came for, you can make a good go of it. That thing is crab. Now go forth.

This restaurant was a surprise for this New Yorker in search of a good crab soup. I must admit that I am quite picky. I am also a vegetarian and but once a year I eat crab and this year it was a taste for a good Maryland crab soup. Lunch was an experience, you are greeted by a friendly server and then given side samplers. They also brought a sample of fried haddock to taste. I ordered Maryland crab soup and it was loaded with crab, so much so that I was compelled to share it. The owner and his family are just as wonderful as their food and service. When I explained I was a vegetarian who today ate crab and it was delicious - he said when you come back I will fix you a nice vegetable plater, since we have great sides. He was more accommodating that some of the finer restaurants in NY. We are now trying to see how far out of the way Price Fredrick will take us when we are headed down to the shore. If you want to eat and feel like a local in Price Frederick go to Jerry's Place.

  • Jim G.

Fresh and friendly seems to be trademark. The family seems to run the whole operation. While they are very friendly the pricing is a bit high for basic fried food. The fish is very fresh. This is not a place to go for late night snacks, they close at 8pm. If you are taking a little too long at closing they start but the chairs up on the tables around you. They did say you don't have to worry; you are welcome to stay until they start vacuuming the carpet. A local hangout that if you happen to be in the Prince Frederick area give it a try.

Approaching this place, you would think it is some little diner, it is literally attached to a Mr. Tire in a strip mall!! but once you get in, the decor is simple and nice and the people are so, so friendly. My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary, we had heard a lot about the place. Right when we were seated by our super nice waitress Jerry the owner and his son came over to greet us, they gave us some fish to taste and told us about the place. We could not decide on a soup so the waitress brought us a taste of each! We ended up having the cream of crab soup (awesome but very, very rich...you might want to split) my bf had the crab cake and fried haddock combo...both were insanely good esp that freakin fish!! SO SO good! He got coleslaw and baked potato as a side...the coleslaw...he is a coleslaw freak eats it all over and he said it was some of the best. I had a special which was fish (i think flounder not sure) stuffed with crab..it was honestly the best seafood dish i have ever had...I got the greens and a tater as my side, I am almost as crazy for greens as he is for coleslaw and it was good!! They offered extra of the sides if we wanted any...but with the amount of food you get, it is not needed!! Since it was our anniversary they even gave us a free dessert. Nice people, and some of the best food I have ever had...it is pricey, but so worth it!!

This place is amazing!! I will re-confirm all the great praise from others. I really wanted to add that Patrick (jerry's grandson) served us last time and we were very impressed by this young man. But what floored us was finding out that Jerry's other grandson was the chef that prepared the meals that day. This grandson is only 17 years old!!!!!!! That kids cooks calamari better then any 5 star restaurant I have been to anywhere. I travel ALOT and am always looking for top quality food and that 17yo puts most of the chefs everywhere else to shame!!!

Last week I had the best crab cake of my entire life at Jerry's. The folks at CD Cafe in Solomons recommended Jerry's at the best place in the area for seafood and I was not disappointed. Jerry walked around the restaurant handing out free samples, the shrimp and some kind of fried fish was delicious. The crab cake was perfect, with lump crab cake barely held together. For dessert the ice box cake was fantastic, a perfect ending to the meal. The quality of the service matched the food. I was really impressed that Jerry himself walked around the restaurant asking how everyone was doing and providing recommendations , he really cared about how everyone's dining experience was. You could tell he taught his staff the same values, the hostess spent time chatting with me while I was waiting for a table, the waitress was very friendly and on top of things. The best touch- the ladies room had a basket with all the essentials (bobby pins, emery board, floss, etc.) Would definitely recommend to friends and family

Went to Jerry's on Saturday with boyfriend after seeing it was voted #1 for best crab cake in Calvert County. It was hands down the best crab cake I've ever had. This has to be the best kept secret in in the county. I ordered the stewed tomatoes and kale to go with the crab cake. My boyfriend ordered Oysters Casino with stewed tomatoes and a wedge salad with homemade blue cheese dressing. We would give Jerry's 6 stars alone for the food if we could. Add in the incredible customer service... I'd give them 7 stars! I had been looking forward to trying this place for weeks and it delivered! I agree with the other reviewers that it was a bit pricey, but it was so worth it. No complaints here.

The food is spectacular, and priced accordingly. You won't be disappointed, but don't expect to walk out the door without shelling out appropriately. I can recommend most things on the menu, but I really like the soups, they are very good.

This is the very best seafood restaurant in Southern Maryland. The hospitality and cuisine is unsurpassed in the Mid-Atlantic. We travel nearly 90 miles to dine at this exquisite, yet down home, restaurant. You always feel special and welcomed. We could not possibly speak higher about this establishment. A definite MUST DO if ever in the region. It is an experience par none. Dawn and Bob Champney Fairfax, Virginia

My gosh! Is all I can say. Tonight was my first time here.I'm from Alexandria and man I would travel here just for the crab cakes. I ended up Jerry's by default cause I was suppose to be staying at another hotel further away. They didn't have the amenities I was looking for so I had to find another hotel that did. Then I checked in my hotel and google restaurants in the area. The reviews were great about this place. So I decided to try it.The reviews were on point. Jerry the owner is awesome. He comes out and goes around to meet people. They give you sample of dishes. The food is the deee...lic....ous.. The staff is very friendly. It was worth the hour drive.Check them out.

What a great place!!!!! Fantastic seafood with an excellent atmosphere! We were very impressed. My Local Blackened Rockfish topped with lump crab was stellar! My wife's Sea Bass was succulent and fresh! Go with the stewed tomatoes and kale as your sides, you won't be disappointed! We will be back with our family and friends for sure! Great job guys for such an excellent place and experience.

Best crab cake ever. They don't use any breading, which is great for me because i need to stay gluten free. The kitchen has even accommodated my requests to sauté soft-shell crabs without flour and frying. Great people, friendly service, and excellent food. Just be prepared that quality is not cheap.

This restaurant is tops! It's small, casual, and located next to a tire store. Once you enter you know you're in Jerry's "home" and you're treated like family. Jerry and his team never met a stranger. They love people and love the food. So you will you! Whether it's the amazing cole slaw, kale, or stewed tomatoes, the fresh catch specials, homemade desserts, the Maryland Crab Cakes or any of the other great items you will be fully satisfied when you leave. Jerry will personally make sure of it. This is what a wonderful dining experience is all about. Try it once and you'll be back....again, and again, and again. Just like me.

First off, I can't even begin to explain how great this place is. It's walk-in style, and we were served some amazing fried haddock and beverages while we waited (est 30 mins). The staff keep everyone updated, when the tables are almost ready. I loved the simplicity of the menu and the way the server introduced the specials. There is also a nice selection of wine. We ordered softshell crabs on a stick and the crab dip. These apps came out quick and were beyond tasty. The service is unprecedented from any I've experienced around these parts. The owner, Jerry personally walks around and warmly engages everyone; he is very personable. Jerry gave us a few surprise dishes to taste between courses. He even threw in a complimentary shot of Van Gogh espresso vodka w/ the dessert & coffee. Put it this way, if my mother doesn't want to leave a place until she hugs the owner, you know you are amongst the very best people. Thank you Jerry's Place for an incredible Mother's Day experience!

The best seafood in Southern Maryland, hands down! We no longer go to Solomon's Island, Jerry's is THE place! Family owned and operated, tasty little snacks while you wait. Unfortunately, since it's such a hit, sometimes the lines do get rather long. But well worth the wait! Don't let the location fool you!

Let's just start by saying that I don't like seafood. I grew up as a crab-picker but slowly migrated into a vulture that eats crabmeat that others pick, and only a small amount at that. I like scallops and non-fishy-tasting fish. I hate cockroaches of the sea, shrimp. Now. I went to Jerry's with friends- and I loved everything. EVERYTHING. Fish. Crab. Sides. Even slimy, mentally disgusting oysters on the halfshell (Was that really me??). My brain questioned my choices, but my tastebuds backed them up. This place is the bomb-diggity when it comes to seafood. I've eaten at the usual nice seafood places - Phillips, McCormick & Schmicks, Pussers, etc. They were high on classiness but not on amazing food. Jerry's is high on amazing food. Great people, professional waitstaff, and many free appetizers to try. Be prepared to wait 1-2 hours for a table at dinner on a weekend. It is definitely worth the wait.

Unbelievably great service and food - I'm not sure which one is better. Wonderful, wonderful place. It may not seem like much from the outside, but don't let that fool you. This place is awesome. I don't want to eat at a different restaurant anymore. This is definitely our new favorite spot!

Jerry and his staff treat you like family. It is a comfortable, friendly atmosphere and the food is awesome - my favorite is the Salmon topped with lemon crab and served with butter!! The crab stuffed mushrooms and the crab dip also top my list. Most of the staff are related to Jerry and you get the sense they care that you have a good dining experience. Jerry, Jerry Jr., Lloyd and Debbie are all exceptional. We have eaten here at least once a month since they opened and have taken or recomended this place to all of our friends. Keep up the great job!!!

We've been here about a dozen times and the only reason I haven't written sooner is I was trying to keep the secret from getting out. However, when the food is this good, it won't stay secret for long. Best crab cakes ever. Bar none. You'll wait about an hour, more than likely, but it's worth it. While you're waiting, Jerry, the owner, will come out and give you some sort of appetizer. Usually fish or sometimes soft shell crab. They do about a half a dozen things or so, scallops, crab cake, soft shell crab, a couple crab soups, and some fish. That's it. It's all awesome. Except the creme of crab. They use curry from an old family recipe. Other than that, it's the best restaurant around and one of the best I've ever eaten.

Everything that you have read about this place is true. We met a couple friends there this past Saturday and the Jerr-Meister was there passing out samples of fried Haddock. He came by our table a few times giving us samples of kale, shrimp cocktail and a fried soft crab. The food is very good as well as the service and everybody is friendly to boot. Keep the cocktail intake to two max, and the dinner is reasonable. You won't need to order any appetizers like our friends did. It made the entire bill higher than we were planning on paying.

I moved out to the West Coast about 7 years ago and everytime I come back home to Maryland I'm dying for good seafood. Jerry's has it, I had been a die hard Stoney's fan for a long time and while back last month for my 30th birthday I decided to try Jerry's as something new. I was overwhelmed with the great service, the samples of soft shell crab and fried haddock. The staff was exceptional, and as per all the other reviews Jerry is right out there in the mix of things. I would recomend the mariners platter, it came with a crab cake, soft shell crab, shrimp, haddock and scallops. As a long time crab cake lover, this was the best I had ever had. I strongly urge everyone to try this restaurant

Awesome. I am so glad we decided to go here. It is near Mr. Tire in PF. Jerry the owner greets you as soon as you walk in and the service is the most attentive of anywhere I have ever been. It is not cheap, but man it was out of this world. He even gave me some roses from his garden. He visited the table several times to make sure we were happy with everything. He is great! Our server was very attentive and we wanted for nothing. I have to find out what the Pinot Noir was so I can buy a bottle, it was really good. We sat down and our server immediately came over and took our drink order. Just after, we were brought fresh rolls and cute little butter balls and a sample of fried fish with sauce. It was really good. I ordered the special lump crab and jumbo shrimp on puff pastry with cream sauce and chilled asparagus with paprika vinaigrette and it was sooooo good! Perfectly cooked! I did not even touch the baked potato! I took it home. Got carrot cake (all desserts are home made) and took a couple bites and saved the rest for my granddaughter since that is her favorite. It was really yummy! Awesome frosting. I was really pleased with our entire meal and will be back for another special occasion.

Hands down the best seafood in Calvert County. I have ate here quite a few times since they opened and the food is consistently excellent. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Even the desserts are yummy! I have tried the other seafood restaurants in the area and Jerry's far exceeds everything that they have to offer, from the food to the staff. When I'm in the mood for seafood, I'm at Jerry's!

Will the real Jerry please stand up, he's in the kitchen! This is it home of the original Crab Bomb, he must have sold the name to "not the Real Jerry's Seafood" but it is not a crab cake. It is oh so good and everyone should try it whether you live nearby or not. Just go.

Jerry's Place was recommended by a friend and I trust this friend when it comes to food. We were not disappointed at Jerry's Place. I loved that they brought out samples from their menu. The staff was passionate about the freshness of the seafood and the preparation. Our dinner was delicious. The soft-shell crabs were the best I've ever eaten...lightly battered and fried, but tasted like they were sauteed. The restaurant filled up by the time we were leaving. This one is a keeper!

One thing I have to say is that when you go to a resturant and pay money, you expect good service ALL THE WAY AROUND. From the people to the food itself. I would have to give this play A++++++. A freind recomened it and it far exceeded my expectations. I've never been to a resturant where the owner walks around continually greeeting their customers and offering free taster samplers to customers. This is a mom and pop resturant. Pictures of the family are nicely painted around the walls. Jerry was real good about determining what the customer wanted. He could easily determine due to religious reasons that we didin't consume pork and was able to recomened some cuisine that was centered around our culture.

Four out of five reviews so far are raves, and the other is a very good. Jerry has a history with a chain up the road that he sold in 2003, (and sadly you have to go to their website to see HIS history) but this is the REAL DEAL!!! It's hard to say more than what's already been said here. There is a myth that the place to go for crabcakes in Southern Maryland is in Broome's Island, but Jerry's busts that myth. Their crab cakes blow ALL the others away! And their service breaks out of the mold for Calvert. Hiding next to Mr. Tire, this is the best hidden secret in Southern MD!!!

LOVE THIS PLACE!! My husband and I were headed to Stoney's on Broome Island when I ran across the following reviews here on yelp.. I'm all up fro trying new places especially if they have great reviews. The owners Jerry ( and daughter) greeted us at the they were extremely pleasant and hospitable.. We were very impressed right away with the service alone. They bring out fresh samples of menu items for you to try which was a first for me to have a restaurant bring out fresh samples. :) The night we went we tried Shrimp Scampi in Alfredo sauce, Fried Oysters & Shrimp, Side dishes with their stewed tomatoes (which I'm not a ussual fan BUT these were deliciuos and sweet.) When we actually got to our food we were almost to full to eat. I would recommend coming hungry cause you will leave stuffed.. We ordered the Mussels in the wine/ garlic butter sauce, with fresh bread.. for main dinner catch of the day was the halibut we added the lemon crap topping and the Crab cakes. which were by far the best I have ever had.. Even the side dished were so great that we couldn't get enough.. Everything was soo fresh, I couldn't get enough of it.. Everything was fabulous and delicious I can't wait to go back and try some more wonderful dishes.
